Martagon Lilies bloom the first of all true lilies in late May to mid June or later June. These wonderful lilies grow 4-6 feet tall with 30-50 small, down\outfacing blooms per stem. Martagon lilies are a delight in your shade beds--towering over your hosta, astilbe and other plants. Since martagons grow slowly, you usually have to pay a premium price for them, if you can find them!
Our martagon lilies come direct from the growers.
Lilies grow and multiply easily, like rabbits, said Evans. If you can grow carrots you can grow lilies. Martagon lilies, which take six to seven years to bloom from seed, are Evans specialty. Over the years, he has produced flowers that cover the spectrum of orange, yellow, pink, white, cream, red and scarlet.
Once they are established, they will last for years in the garden, reproducing and multiplying. Plant them in tight rows and weed the heck out of them, advised Evans.
