Commemorative Tree
What better way to honor someone who is special to you than with a living tree! The Garden Center Association plants trees in the Stanley R. McLane Arboretum at Loose Park in the spring, in association with National Arbor Day, and in the fall. To commemorate a friend or loved one with a tree, order online below or print out the Commemorative Tree order form and mail it along with your check to the address indicated. Please be sure to fill out all of the information to indicate to whom you would like to receive a card acknowledging the honoree. The person being honored will have his/her name recorded in the Commemorative Tree Book which is kept in a special case in the Library at the Garden Center Building at Loose Park. After the tree has been planted, a card and map location of the tree will be sent to the recipients and donors. Commemorative Trees planted are all native species chosen to grow well in our area. The price of $500 includes the tree, its planting, first year watering and one year warranty. Donated trees given February-August will be planted in the Fall, those given September-January will be planted in the Spring. Planting is dependent upon availability of tree species requested. Some tree species may only be available for planting once a year due to cultural requirements. Due to restrictions in the Deed of Dedication of the Ella C. Loose, Trust, the names of individuals may not be permanently memorialized outside of the buildings at the park. A plaque identifying the tree species will be installed if applicable for the arboretum's educational purposes. Not all trees have plaques.
